NEW ORLEANSAbout NIA
NIA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit enterprise for social entrepreneurship: an innovation partner, living-lab operator, venture builder, and system shaper for New Orleans.
Our mission
MAKE THE PIE BIGGER.
To improve quality of life and long-term prosperity in New Orleans by engaging citizens, building partnerships, testing bold solutions, and advancing system-level change through social entrepreneurship and applied innovation.
New Orleans does not need another organization that treats each issue in isolation. It needs a platform that can identify root causes, engage citizens, test bold responses, and create the capacity to implement what works.
That is NIA's role: helping the city move from reactive problem-solving to proactive design, from fragmented initiatives to connected systems, and from civic fatigue to civic participation.
Join the alliance ›Transformation journey
NIA exists to help New Orleans shift from reactive problem-solving to proactive design, from fragmented initiatives to connected systems, from symbolic innovation to practical implementation, and from civic fatigue to civic participation.
Theory of change
If New Orleans builds a mission-driven platform that identifies systemic challenges, meaningfully engages residents, designs citizen-centered solutions, tests them through living labs and pilots, supports implementation through partnerships and venture building, and scales what works, then the city can improve quality of life, expand opportunity, strengthen resilience, and create more durable prosperity for current and future generations.
Support turns a promising model into a durable civic capability.
Invest in the work ↗Built on a legacy of civic action
Neighborhood Partnership Network formed after Hurricane Katrina to bring communities together and help steer redevelopment.
It grew through civic engagement, fiscal sponsorship, and practical support for New Orleans organizations and neighborhoods.
NIA is the next phase: a civic innovation platform built to turn audacious ideas into durable citywide progress.
